Charlotte Moving Companies
If you want relocation to be easy (or as easy as it’s going to get!) you should compare several Charlotte moving companies to find one that’s best for you. Find out about policies, price, moving insurance and other things before you hire one.
Moving? You’ll want to choose among the best Charlotte moving companies to help you with this important task. You want your move to cause you as little hassle as possible—which means no lost furniture, broken vases, or injured pets, and therefore you want to find a reliable moving company. Here are several factors to take into consideration when comparison shopping:
- Price. You shouldn’t make price your sole consideration for moving companies; after all, as we’ve mentioned, it’s imperative that the move go smoothly. But you want the aid of the company that’s going to give you the most value for your dollar. Comparing price may seem fairly straightforward, but make sure to read all the fine print so you don’t encounter any hidden fees. How many miles are allowed in the price you were quoted? Usually the per-mile charge when you hit the limit is very high.
- Company reliability. You will want to verify the license and insurance information for each company you look into, and the company should have sufficient insurance to cover anything of yours they may damage or break during the move. Ask the company’s rep how long the company has been in business. Speak to past customers, if possible.
- Services provided. Will you be loading everything into the truck yourself, or do they do that for you? Are you responsible for boxing up your belongings, or does the company do it? Do you have to drive the truck yourself? This aspect depends largely on your personal preference; some people like to do as little as possible, while others feel less comfortable with moving companies handling their belongings. You will, of course, generally pay more for more services, so if you’re working in the confines of a budget your options will be more limited.
In order to better evaluate and supervise a moving company, you should be knowledgeable about good packing and moving procedures, even if the moving company will be doing most of the work for you. Make sure electronic equipment and anything else breakable is properly padded before being put in a box, and that the box it is put in fits it well (if there is extra space in the box, the items can be jostled around and damaged or broken).
Moving pets:
This is one aspect of your move with which Charlotte moving companies should not be trusted. If you are driving the moving truck yourself, it’s all right to put a pet in a pet carrier in the truck, but you should keep the animal in the front of the truck with you. Jolts and sharp turns in the road can dislodge items in the truck, no matter how carefully you have packed, and being packed in the back of the truck could potentially be traumatic or even dangerous for your pet. The exception to this is that if the move is not far, it’s probably okay to put pet fish in the back, as long as you obtain the proper moving containers for them, which you should be able to get from a pet shop along with advice on moving the fish.
